According to recent analysis from the International Energy Agency (IEA), approximately 730 million people worldwide remained without access to electricity in 2024. This figure highlights a persistent challenge in global electrification, particularly in regions like Sub-Saharan Africa where population growth continues to outpace new electrical connections.

The IEA data indicates that while developing Asia has reached 98% electrification, progress has stagnated in key countries. In Latin America, reaching the final remote populations could take up to 15 years at current rates. Most significantly, Sub-Saharan Africa remains home to 80% of the global population lacking electricity access, despite recording 6.8 million new grid connections in 2024.

"This data reveals not just a challenge but a significant opportunity for the solar industry," stated a spokesperson for Longsun Green. "As grid expansion drives electrification in Africa, and remote areas worldwide remain difficult to reach, reliable and cost-effective solar energy solutions become increasingly vital."

The report notes that affordability remains a central challenge for households, even as electrification rates improve. This economic reality underscores the need for durable solar infrastructure that delivers long-term value.
