According to the latest energy sector vision released by Turkish authorities, Turkey is poised for a substantial scale-up in solar photovoltaic (PV) deployment, presenting new prospects for the renewable energy supply chain. These developments as indicative of the growing dynamism in global solar markets.
As reported by the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, the country's 2026 Energy and Mining Vision outlines aggressive renewable energy targets. A key initiative involves advanced negotiations with ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia for a massive 5-gigawatt (GW) PV project pipeline. This volume represents an expansion equivalent to approximately 30-40% of Turkey's current installed solar capacity. The first phase, targeting 2 GW, aims for finalized agreements by Q1 2026, with planned installations in the Sivas and Taşeli regions.
Beyond this collaboration, Turkey is also advancing discussions with another Gulf-based company for integrated solar-plus-storage projects, with associated investments estimated in the range of billions of euros. Furthermore, plans are underway to develop nearly 3 GW of floating PV power plants, potentially through partnerships with private entities or state-owned utilities.

To facilitate these large-scale projects, the Turkish government is promoting intergovernmental agreements for renewables. In a significant policy move expected in 2026, Turkey plans to introduce a "Storage Resource Zone" mechanism. Modeled after the existing "Renewable Energy Zones" that successfully supported wind and solar projects, this new framework is designed to provide crucial policy and infrastructure support for the integration of energy storage with solar installations.
"Turkey's latest roadmap underscores a strategic commitment to diversifying its energy mix and enhancing energy security through solar power," said a spokesperson for Longsun Green. "As a specialist in solar mounting solutions, including those suited for large-scale utility and innovative floating applications, we see strong alignment between these market developments and our mission to support robust and efficient solar projects worldwide."
